Soft Leather Toddler Girl Shoes
Up until your toddler girl takes her first steps you can get by with soft bootie style shoes to keep her feet warm and shoes will not form part of your toddler girls clothing. However she is going to need proper shoes once she has started walking. At the stage when your little girl learns to stand, walk and run, she will need to develop good balance and confidence of movement. Choosing incorrect shoes can have a negative impact on this important milestone in her little life.Toddlers should be encouraged to walk barefoot as much as possible but during winter your little girl will need to keep her shoes and socks on most of the time.
Select toddler girl shoes that are soft and flexible and have non-slip soles. The soles of toddlers shoes should not be too thick as a toddler needs to feel the floor beneath their feet in order to develop their balance. In the past people believed that thick, hard soles would support the toddler’s feet and enable them to walk more easily. However, recent studies have shown that soft, flexible soles that allow a toddler to feel the ground beneath them helps contribute to their balance. As toddlers need to balance to walk properly it stands to reason that these softer sole shoes are the better option. Canvas and leather shoes will allow your little girls feet to breathe, keeping her cool and comfortable.

Genuine Leather Elasticzed Toddler Girl Shoes
Toddler girl shoes should be well constructed to withstand the energetic lifestyle of a young little girl. They will need to be tough enough to take the walking, crawling, climbing and falling that they will be subjected to. It is for this reason that it is best to buy shoes that are sewn and not glued together. Toddler shoes that are sewn together will be a bit more expensive than their glued counterparts but will last that much longer.
It is very important that toddler shoes must not only be better-made they must also be better-fitting. For this reason it is advisable to measure your toddlers feet to determine the correct size shoe that will provide a perfect fit. Measure both feet while your little girl is wearing socks. If you find she curls her toes get her to stand on a piece of paper and draw around her feet. Take the measurements of both feet and use the larger of the two measurements to select a size, using a sizing chart. There are several sizing charts available online. There should be at least half an inch between the toes and the shoes to allow sufficient room for movement and proper fit.
Children’s feet grow at varying rates and it is advisable to measure your toddler’s feet on a regular basis as she could easily outgrow her shoes in as short a period as three months. Do not wait for your toddler to complain of sore feet before buying new shoes. Keep a look out for any redness or chafing of the skin as this could indicate that her shoes are getting too small. With older children we feel if a shoe is too small by feeling the space between the toes and shoe. This is not a reliable indicator with toddlers as they tend to curl up their toes.
Bearing in mind that toddlers will at some stage want to start dressing themselves it is advisable to look for shoes with velcro fastening. Shoes that have elasticized ankles also offer a better fit.
